The production of coconut shell activated carbon in China shows a clear industrial cluster, with enterprises mainly distributed in Hebei Province in North China, Henan Province and Guangxi Province in Central and South China, Jiangsu Province in East China, and relatively few enterprises in other regions. Currently, the larger coconut shell activated carbon production enterprises in China include Mulin Sen Activated Carbon Jiangsu Co., Ltd., Hainan Xingguang Activated Carbon Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Youhuada Environmental Protection Material Technology Co., Ltd., Fujian Senshen Carbon Industry Technology Co., Ltd., and Anguo City Chengze Activated Carbon Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

Analysts from New Thinking Industry indicate that coconut shells are the main raw material for coconut shell activated carbon. Due to the limited planting area of coconut trees in China, most of the coconut shells need to be imported from abroad. In addition, the current industry standards for coconut shell activated carbon in China are still not perfect, and there is a lack of industry supervision. Due to the high market price of coconut shell activated carbon, some manufacturers, in pursuit of profit, often sell coal-based activated carbon as coconut shell activated carbon, which severely affects the development of the coconut shell activated carbon industry. Most importantly, the production process of coconut shell activated carbon generates wastewater and waste gas, which can pollute the surrounding environment if not handled properly.

In recent years, domestic environmental protection policies have become increasingly strict, and the environmental protection investment of coconut shell activated carbon enterprises has been continuously increasing, weakening the industry's profitability. In response, coconut shell activated carbon enterprises should enhance their basic research capabilities for coconut shell activated carbon products, improve the technical level of coconut shell activated carbon products, and guide the production of coconut shell activated carbon products towards greening, environmental protection, and energy saving.
